It was a bitter sweet ending to an era. On Tuesday, Arkansas State football head coach Steve Roberts resigned (forced our) after nine years with the program. It was about that time because Roberts in nine years only made it to one bowl game and after a disappointing season this year (4-8) a move needed to be made!
Every Astate fan had an opinion on the resignation and who they would like to see replace him, BUT I want Red Wolf fans to understand that next year will also be a struggle. With rumors of at Virgina Tech and Illinois and home games against UCA and Memphis there is a possibility the Red and Black could start off 1-3 or 2-2 at best.
Whoever the coach may be, patience fans, patience! Just because somebody new is coming in doesn't mean that things are going to change right off the bat! There is enough talent coming back next year that there is no reason we can't make a run at the Sun Belt title.
Let's just hope the next coach shows patience with a team that has underachieved the past few years!
